Hoping for some insight and feedback. Have a 93 1FZ that I had fresh NKT 24080 o2 sensors put on a few months after a head gasket job last year. This solved a persistent cel 26 (I believe it was 26) that I had.
Engine ran well for a few months, then I began to have a rough idle, poor acceleration and seemingly misfire symptoms. Took me most of the summer to actually get another CEL to come on that led me to check the o2 sensors. The outermost connector was full of water when I unplugged it - checked resistance per FSM and it was not within spec. The inner sensor was within spec and had no moisture issues. Engine ran fine with that one sensor unplugged, just naturally with a CEL. Got a new NKT in, waterproofed it the best I could, and had no issues until today, where same issues popped up with this sensor being out of spec with resistance, too (no CEL yet at least, but was only driven back home a few miles). Had a few drops of water in the sensor, not as much as last time. Engine idled normally again, just with CEL back on once I had the sensor unplugged.
Am I getting knock off nkts? The inner sensor is within spec with resistance and seemingly has no issues. Any other steps or recommendations other than trying to find a Toyota o2 sensor? I am struggling to figure out how it is getting moisture in it as well as the car/ecu side of the connector has been dry and has no moisture around it that i can tell. I do have a fresh spare NKT i guess i will have to install. Something is going on with them and I can't figure it out evidently as I am blowing through O2 sensors.
