Little back story: Bought my truck in 07 as a daily, 3.0 hydro locked in 2010, replaced with another 3vze and have been running this 3.0 since. Its been GREAT! But last fall, she got a little oil deprived for the last time and wanted out.

*3.4 enters the chat*

This is out of a 1998 5 speed t100. We got this engine in 2018 and it has been waiting for its turn. 220k miles, this will be the 3rd truck this engine has been in. Some one already swapped it into a 3rd gen pickup, so the oil pan and pickup had already been swapped. I even have the computer and whole t100 harness, gage cluster and steering column.

New valve cover gaskets/plugs/belts and a little paint while it was out.

Picked up a used yotashop crossover from a friend, and reused the 3.4 clutch with the 3.0 throw-out bearing slave. 3.0 engine mounts to start, but switched to ruffstuff mounts.

For the wiring, we pulled the entire 3.0 harness out, and layed the t100 harness in. My truck being a basic crawler and not needing anything besides what it need to run helped a lot. I left the diag ports to plug into, but took out the check engine light bulb as it would always be otherwise.

Had to swap the ignition pigtail. 3.0 on left, 3.4 on right

The 3.0 powersteering lines hooked up to the 3.4 pump if you use the shorter 3.0 bolt. 3.0 on top, 3.4 on bottom

Made a battery tray to move the battery to the drivers side.

Exhaust is mildly sloppy. Amazon bung for the 02 sensor, emt for exhaust tubing and a cherry bomb for a muffler.

tucked the o2 up out of the way above the spring shackle.

Getting closer! Fuel lines hooked up. Using a e2000 pump and a 10 gal fuel cell. 3.4 intake with a ricer filter

Found these hoses on a 3.4 fb page and they work great. Had to trim the ends a little, but otherwise fit fine.

Radiator is an amazon 3core,

This took a bout a month of mostly weeknights, but what a great feeling to drive it. the 3.4 was a wicked upgrade, I should have done this a long time ago

"racing" my buddy with a propane 22r.

I got the hood to clear with the 3.0 motor mounts, by removing all of the backing on the back of the hood, and using a 3/8 spacer. After switching to the Ruff stuff mounts, I pulled the spacers and cut till it fit.

Now with the ruff stuff motor mounts, it sits a little higher, but cut waaaaayyy down on drivetrain movement. The 3.0 mounts were through bolted, but the rubber was just beat.
