'91 80's series

My dad found a '91 80 series in downtown Chicago for about 2,500. I think he said it has 150,000 miles. He's giving the owner a call. Not sure if its FJ or FZJ.

2 big questions.

Does anyone know of this, and is it worth it?

What are the major differences between the 91 and the 94?

91 is a FJ with the 3FE motor. It is a way different truck and typically sells for a lot less.

3FE motor instead of the 1FZ-FE makes it a dog.
15 wheels
typically cloth interior
no lockers available
drum brake rears

$2500 is more than I would pay for one, but that doesn't make it not worth it to somebody else.

Hmm. thanks for the input like i said i'm new to this, but my dad spotted it and thought maybe its worth it. but if there are a lot of differences...

I'm actually a fan of the 3FE! Lots of low end grunt and very easy to maintain! Price wise I'd offer him no more than 2k.

Well, I called the guy earlier. Apparently he sold it yesterday for 1800. He also had a 94 FZJ with 175,000 mi. that he sold the day before for 3000. So thats out. I'm going to be looking around this summer to see if i can find a couple insurance job crusiers in junk yards up here.

I figure if I can find one or two decent ones and pick them up fairly cheap, i should have a good amount of parts when i need them. I plan to keep my cruiser for a long while.
