Let me first say Hey I'm new to this forum. Okay so I just bought a super clean 89 ext cab Toyota 4x4. Yesterday I found out that I need to replace the idler arm and the inner and outer tie rod ends. I used to have a 94 when I was 19 and now I am almost 35. Let me just say it is great to have another 4x4. Any advice on the best place to get parts and accessories for it would be appreciated. Thanks guys and gals.

Well there are a couple thoughts on parts. You could order from a dealer vendor on here. Lowe Toyota or American Toyota both give "Mud" discounts, or you could go parts store. When i did mine i got MOOG parts from NAPA i think. If i don't use oem I find that NAPA seems to have the next best quality parts and seem to have a more knowledgeable staff. Best advice I can give is don"t cheap out on steering components.

Also, the idler arm can be rebuilt with new bushings in a few hours if you have the time. Those will be dealer parts and I am sure either place would be able to get those for you.

Good luck and Welcome.

I would really like to see the pics of your truck. I see a 2 to 4 inch lift in the future for my truck to.

Ok I got the idler arm and the tie end rods replaced today and everything went smoothly. I do have a small power steering leak. I guess that's next.

Looks good!
