A few of you may not be following my 4Runner build up so I thought I would post up how I am doing 3 link on the 2nd generation to gain 5 inches of rear lift or more and increase travel substantially.

You could use the upper arms as well to just mimic the original 4 link but longer arms/travel and lift. I cahose to do a 3link to eliminate the panhard rod and increase travel as well.

Here are the lengths/differences in the FJ80 and 4Runner lower links.

4Runner- 18.25 inches/463.5 millimeters

FJ80-27.5 inches/698.50 millimeters

9.25 inches/234.95 millimeters longer

50 percent longer(9")plus 1/4"/ 6 millimeters (9.25 Total longer)

I havent measured the diameter.

I may integrate johnnyjoint/heims style end onto it later, as for now I am setting it up and tuning it so its retains some of its road manners.

I will use an Old Man Emu FJ80 rear lift spring OME863 3 inch lift spring, hoping for a total of 5 inches.

I have the the 4 inch front leaves and shackle and a stock landcruiser coil in the rear (2, 2.5 inches?) and a 1.5 spacer and it sits ass low...bad.

I am stretching the wheel base 3 inches as well.

1. to clear a larger tire without butchering the wheel well.

2. Stretch it a little to help with stabilty and do better in some situations off road (I will probably never notice a difference)

3. if all goes well this will have some serious travel in the rear.

I will have to move the spring buckets back as well, and I am adding hydraulic bumps stops in the center of the new spring cones.

I will be able to remove the rear panhard rod as well.

EDIT-I know, pics suck. deal with it for now. I will get clean crisp ones when I can and clean up this old thread as well.
