Hi everyone, can't get my truck to start in the cold. I've been researching and saw something about a cold start injector? Wasn't sure if there is a common issue that you guys could let me know about or a "trick" or two you know. Thanks!

The cold start injector is controlled buy the cold start timing switch, it is a temp sensor located below the throttle body. The way it works is when the water temperature is below 40degF it allows the cold start injector to spray fuel into the intake plenum. The Toyota Factory Service Manuel (FSM) will give detailed instructions for testing the cold start timing switch, or you could shot gun it and just replace it. There are two sensors right next to each other, I always forget which one is for the cold start injector.
keep in mind that your problem may be the Idle Air Control valve, this valve allows for higher RPM to warm the engine up, if this valve does not work it will be hard to keep the engine running on first start on cold days.

the cold start injector and the timing switch are both expensive parts. make sure it's bad before you buy one. they are hard to find in the junkyard because people know they can sell them on ebay and they rape all the trucks they can find of these parts.
