Hello Toy friends,I am looking to buy an 88 4runner,SAS,350 conversion, but no motor. It looks to be well built, from only pics that the owner sent to me.While looking at some pics I saw this one,and was wondering if this is a common practice perch mount with no u bolts. Are there any problems with a setup like this. Thanks to all

My only experience is with some C303 mounts, but for the most part it's the same idea. The difference though is that the Toyota axle housing is only 1/8" thick- I've met people who have torqued the factory mount with a non stock engine and 35s- to have only a few welds on the top of the thin housing like that seems like a bad idea to me.

If the axle housing was thicker or the mount heavily reinforced, I'd say go for it. If you're not worried about axle wrap with a V8 under the hood, I'd say run it until you break it.

Just want the truck and components on it.not that interested in the 350 setup, will probably go back to Toyota.thanks for the info.

Those look like the old all pro u-bolt eliminator kit.

The early kits collapsed. The late kits were far better. The difference was that the late kit had a 'third leg' brace between the center of the perch, and the axle housing.
