So on the way home the other day my truck gave out like i was running out of gas but i have gas in my truck i thought it might be the fuel put it has a 22-r so i went and got a mechanical fuel pump and it looked like it was getting more gas then i drove it down the road and it shut off again and now its not getting no gas to the fuel filer. i have also replaced the distributor cap, fuel filter, pcv valve , plug wires, air filter, in the past and it ran fine this just happend all of a sudden if any can help please comment. today i was messing around with my truck to try and get it started and i put some gas in the carb and it crunk up and is running just fine now so i dont know what the problem is but when i drive it down the road it will shut off like it is running out of gas it idels fine and drives slowly fine but idk what the problem is ? any adive would be great thank you!

could possibly be somthing in the fueltank. thats causeing a restiction in flow. maybe pull your pickup out the fueltank. n looking side see if theres any gunk or debris.
I'm thinking dirty sending unit in the tank itself. You basically worked your way back from the front with what you have replaced. It's an 87 with a 22r? Interesting. I've heard of them but they are rare. Is it a 2 wheel drive? Not that it makes a difference to your problem, just curious. Also might be the carb itself. Carb might need a rebuild.

yeh its a 87 pick-up 4x4 with 22r its pretty sweet and yeah today i took the bed off anf seen that the fuel filter that is near the tank, i undid it and started dumping gas out of it and seen little chuncks of dirt falling out i am getting a new one tommorrow as far as the gas tank it looked clean on the inside as far as alot of dirt on the obttem it didnt have non but the inside did look kinda a wired yellowish stained color, ill post some pictures of the truck here once i get her bed put back on, yeh how much will a carb rebuild kit run you? any good sites to get them off of?
