Just pick up a cheap 86 sr5 toy with a busted front axle. Anyone in the Seattle area that sells replacements? Or any ideas where I can purchase one online?

Thanks

Find a 4WD shop or put an ad in the paper/ CraigsList... You might even get lucky enough to buy a whole parts truck before you pay retail from somebody wanting to stick it to b/c you're stuck in a bind...

what part is broken, front half shaft, or front diff,or is it in the rear?

X2, you need to know...

If it's a joint you can prolly have it fixed withing an hour.

If it is, unbolt the shaft from the flange on the differential then tap the studs out. Don't booger the threads up. Run the nut out flush with the bolt and it'll give you a bigger piece to hit and protect the threads.

Remove the cap off the hub, the flange (metal disc with holes drilled into it) if it's ADD then remove a cap from the end of the axle.

It should slide right out. Jack up if need be.

The diff won't come out over the studs from the diff side. I learned that the hard way and it only cost me a 5:29 diff with a TrueTrac.

for the record, use a OE axle, one that aint got a torn boot.

the aftermarket *new* axles are garbage and they do break.

but it only takes 25 mins to fix one on the trail when your helper is as good of wrench as i yam :D
