I finally bit the bullet and decided to get the All-Pro HySteer kit for my 85 4Runner. Having problems getting the box to mount up and it looks like there's only about a 1/2" of space between the tie rod/drag link and the oil pan with the tires on the ground, no flexing or anything. I've got older 3" lift springs that may have sagged a bit over the years. It looks like the All-Pro mount plate doesn't even match up with the holes in the box.

So, any ideas? I'm calling up All-Pro Monday morning, just wanted to get some input on this. Oh and it's not ME doing this install, I have a professional off-road racing shop doing the install Campbell Enterprises in Gilbert, AZ... and they are confused, too. Thanks!

EDIT: I'm thinking I may need higher lift springs something like 4" I REALLY don't want to go much higher.

I *think* the IFS oil pan offers a bit more room than the SA oil pan. Seem to recall sourcing one when I did mine. Your problem is exactly why I built my own steering arm. I also ended up using a flat pitman arm.

I went ahead and ordered higher-lift springs since I planned to do this anyway. The old springs are pretty flat. Welcome to the Slippery Slope.

It would help you too. I raised my drive train by 1 3/8 inches. 86 22re 5 spd. There is enough room under the hood and at the firewall to do it. The tranny tunnel and horse collar crossmember were different stories though. No bodylift either.

Next thing will be the drive shaft. MONEY MONEY MONEY

Maybe some shocks? $$$

Update time... went ahead and got the AP springs and spring hanger. And the matching rear springs. And new shocks and a Tom Woods driveshaft. And all the little things. Love the way it turned out!

Pictures PLEASE!!!

It's not staying on the 33x9.50s for ever... plans are 35s at least, and I'm looking for a set of 93-94 FZJ80 wheels. And 4.56 gears. And a tire carrier/bumper. And a better roof rack deal. And either an engine rebuild or swap.
