The front brakes have become very touchy suddenly and intermittently. Apply a little too much pressure to the peddle and it'll lock up. Inspected the rotors and brakes and all looks fine , though passenger side is a tad bit more worn. And it'll do it in reverse too.

How about the possibility that the pistons are not retrieving back once the pressure in the pedal is released. Keep in mind that most of the breaking work is done by the front brakes.

i am kind of on the same page as bcstoy, my 84 done this from the time i bought it but only in the snow, when i rebuilt my front end, both calipers were holding so that you could not spin the wheel freely.

Im not sure if toyota did this but if the rubber brake line are bad they will not let pressure release iv had many go bad on my jeep from stretching them to much when flexing just a idea.

:DThanks guys for the suggestions.

I checked wheel spin Friday night and they both seemed to be normal. Not like a pin wheel but with some normal friction. Just rechecked brake lines, 'specially the rubber, and all seemed good.

I'll go for a drive and see if two days fixed it by itself.

What ever the problem was it fixed itself. Very curious.

Might have some trash in the lines. If it gets caught in the proportioning valve it can cause it to lock up the front. We bled my 80 pickup and it had a bunch of gunk in the lines.
