81 Pickup DLX - Fuel Tank

I'll post some pictures soon of my truck, but I was wondering does anybody know where the best place would be to get a new gas tank for a 81 pickup - 4X4 short bed DLX. The tank in mine is rusting out fairly badly.

I know an auto Wrecker would be the best but I have found that these trucks don't have a tendancy of staying at the wreckers for long. People seem to buy the whole truck up for parts in my area at least.

Since it's a mechanical fuel pump you can probably use a lot of different style tanks as long as you can make it fit in the same relative location. As for OEM, you can find them, but these 1st gen trucks are getting harder and harder to come across and like you said the useable parts don't last long once the arrive at the yard.

I wonder if the 2nd gen 22r truck tanks are interchangeable? They would be more abundant than the 1st gen trucks.
