81 bj42 hardtop fit a 78 fj40

The only problem I can think of is the bottom corners of the rear barn doors. The '81 doors have a rounded corner and the '78 tub is square. It should still fit though.

i've also found a 71 hardtop and front doors. should i be ok with this setup on my 78?

The `71 top and doors will probably work on your `78 better than the `81. `78 still has the tail gate and hatch instead of ambulance doors, right? I don't think they were too big on change in regaurds to how the top fit the tub anyhow. Could be wrong though. Anyway, with a little creativity, you can make anything fit on anything else! I'm a body man (3rd yr apprentice any how) and I live in Vancouver too (Burnaby actually), if you need some help making things fit let me know. I just got finished making new wheel wells, floor and roll bar mounts for mine and I love working on Cruisers.
