I missed Cruise Moab this year as it coincided with my yearly guys Mtn. Bike Adventure. 8 of us headed out to Southern Utah to ride Gooseberry Mesa and the surrounding area. Some of the best Mtn. Biking I've ever had!

I'm jealous, I've ridden a bit of that on the way over to Telluride and it is sweet. If your guys trip hasn't hit Crested Butte/Gunnison it is on my personal "best rides" and is well worth it. You really need to quit working to truly enjoy epic mountain biking though...work your way across southern Utah, hit Moab, over to Durango, up to Crested Butte on to Steamboat Springs, over to Boulder, drive the plains over to Canaan Valley, up to Mt Snow...

ok, back to reality

Mike, I like your Mtn bike fantasy. But, since we don't have to work let's add in the North Shore and Whistler.

If anyone wants to ride let me know. In So Cal my favorite trail is the San Juan trail down in South OC.

Holy Hell that is some sexy bike porn right there! I want to ride - can't we get a socal80 mt. bike ride going on sometime?

I used to race, ride, etc. but have just started getting back into it again. The last mt bike trip i was on landed me in Red Rock Canyon outside of Vegas new years eve 2006. That is a great place to ride, I can't wait to get back. Watch the killer cacti though. I kept having this vivid nightmare of dying like Steve Irwin with a cacti barb in my chest.

Anyway, looks like fun!

On the way to Utah we rode Cottonwood Canyon just outside of Vegas. Killer little 13 mile single track loop. Not terribly technical but very fast. It used to be part of the Norba X-Country series. Have to watch out for cacti there as well. One of my buddies pulled a nice cactus needle out of his thigh.

Gooseberry Mesa is only 2.5 hours away from Vegas and like I said the riding is awesome. A few of the guys that were on the trip have been all over the country and this made their top 5 list. There's everything from slickrock bowls and ledges to sweet flowing high dessert single track.

It would be great to get a mtn bike trip planned. Next time I go I'll post it up here and hopefully we can get a trip together.

I should have been more specific - North Shore = Vancouver not Hawaii although I'm sure there is some good riding on the Island

It would be great to see you...I should be around.

I am so jealous, I have been dying to ride Utah. It is definitely on my must do before I die list.

I have't ridden San Juan in a 2 and a half years. As soon as my body is healed enough I will totally take you up on So Cal 80's Mtn bike ride. Sounds like fun.
