I didn't realize they were tube. You could make the Lowes solution even stronger by drilling some holes through the whole thing and rosette welding the LCA to the lowes rods. That would be as strong as if it were solid. Combine that with a piece of angle iron and you'd have something.

here's the stock for the front tie/relay rods...
3/4" rod at 3' per rod at lowes
This shows how much was removed for the front steering rod. the rear rod will take up the entire 3ft of the rod uncut... done it to all my 80's and a few others that like to save money.
at the risk of actually talking about tech, I have noticed how beat up Deb's rear control arms are.
