Power Waggon, just about the coolest truck out there.

Actually the new chevy's (yukon,etc...) are looking pretty good too...

I wouldn't own another taco 4 cylinder 5 speed - they are such dogs. I had an 03 access cab 4 cylinder 5 speed. I wouldn't do it again.

I do like my current 05 Taco D-cab, but it has a V6, auto and the trd offroad package. It is nowhere near as "nice" as the cruiser, but it makes a good family hauler. Plus you can buy two for the price of the equivalent year cruiser.

I always thought Land Cruiser had the same caviate as Porsche in the 80's "There is no substitute"

Wow... and powered by Nissan !!

Well the good thing is the Nissan VG30 was a solid motor. I had one in my 89 Maxima. It's also the same motor that was in the 300zx (of course that was the VG30DET).

I wouldn't consider the UNIMOG if one of your requirements is a daily driver, unless you get a newer one, in which case you're talking such crazy money that you might as well buy a couple brand new loaded up LX470s! And the MOG will still suck as a DD (just not quite so much as the older ex-military trucks...)

My pick would be a MY2000+ UZJ100 (to get the traction control), but that's just because that's what I did in your situation. But I kept the 80, too...

Thats it, I have made up my mind.
I am selling the 80 and getting a....

CROSS LANDER!!!!

CROSS LANDER!!!!

Sounds like a good plan.

Heeeyy now yerrr talkinn!

Why drive the civilized, well mannered Japanese designed brute you have when you could have a bastardized Eastern European POS with no warranty? I envy you and your fearless ways....:flipoff2: You posted looking for a pile on , didn't you? Nobody on this board would seriously consider TREASON? (sarcasm) Seriously, Jeeps are Cheep and reliable, the MRS loooves her Liberty, and it will wheel quite well in stock form.

just buy the rolling chassis 55 in the for sale section and put your 80's drive train in it.:)

I would'nt rule out 100 series, pretty nice trucks.
FJC, sawzsall, and some thick clear vinyl and ducktape and the kids window solution is solved;)

kurt I don't know what to suggest. Not too many vehicles will hold a cord of wood in the back :D

Go for the Mog. :flipoff2:
When I win lotto my dream is to get Unimog 416 Doka and shoehorn in a 1HD/FTE. That way I get the best of both worlds -awesome 4x4 truck with powerful, economical, modern motor.
Don't sell the 80, chop it into a tubed comp buggy!:flipoff2:

Skip the Unimog unless you have more $$ to blow than a new 100 series. Unimog's are slow and unless it pretty new ie the SUV's in the middle east there are very few creature comforts. I have a 416 w/ plow that I left at my dad's because it so impractical to transport and the wife hates it. In addition depending on the year, model, other variables and state law it may be a PITA to title and insure it.

Go for a later model 80 or early 100 series. With the money you save drop it off at Slee and have them engineer a solid front axle for it.

If you get a CrossLander (its Romanian), you will have to deal with dirty eastern europeans gypsies like me , and you know how much we like to drink grandpas cough syrup : ) My vote is on the Venezualean Landcruiser 4500.
