this thread has been quiet for some time. my project got derailed by my fj62 a new house build and then a rushed fj40 project but it hasn’t gone away. i actually just got an aqualu half tub a couple months ago so hope to get moving on it again. this is a little push my wife and kids gave me for christmas! fun little rc in the right colour and year (ish)

Those brackets for the muffler heat shield have to go for the aux tank and you will have to cut out or move the bed support forward.

life is finally getting to the place i am hoping to get back on this project. it’s sat too long. one of the difficulties i’ve been having is finding a fan that will fit between the motor and the radiator without too many modifications. well i see today that doomsday diesel has a serpentine kit that will give about 3.5 extra inches of space. i really only needed about 3/4 of an inch extra so i bought the kit to move stuff around. it’ll also move my alternator which then open up space to put the a/c compressor i want to use. this then simplifies where my steering shaft can go because the only spot it could go previously would interfere with the steering shaft. maybe it’ll give me the space to put a a/c rad in the traditional spot too! so this kit fixes all sorts of interference issues at once. pretty stoked about that. i’ll get the brackets powder coated when the come and get going again. i’m hoping next week to start the task of rear tub replacement with my aqualu one! let’s go!!

following the aqualu instructions leads to a pretty simple disconnection. the A pillars need a little love. i’m starting to wonder if my tub may have been stitched on by the PO. it seems to be missing some metal where i feel there should be some. also the old tub has a yellow layer of paint in it. the rest of the truck doesn’t. anyway i can say i just cut my 40 in half

that doesn’t look right!

i have my brother in laws are coming this weekend. i’ll have them help me set the new tub in place and start adjusting. i scratched the POR15 off the frame in one spot so i’ll have to touch that up. another night

i have a few driveline adjustments to make as my transfer case is touching the body and i have to drop my fuel tank a little to get the rear of the tub to sit down. fun times ahead!!
