i had this in the tail end of another thread but thought this might be easier to ask and answer going forward. I noticed my 91 HZJ77 has no sway bar currently..

i've found the part i think (48811-60051 plus the brackets 48825-60020 and bushings 48815-26020) and have also found one on the japanese auctions that is advertised as being for the 70 series. They do not specify which generation or year 70, does anyone know if they should be compatible across years? Here's a pic from the auction:

So i'm pretty sure the part number i posted is the correct part number for my truck. I was wondering if anyone knew ALL 70s (at least in a year range) shared the same sway bar? The japanese auction does not list a part number, just that it's for a 70 land cruiser...

hrmm.. i might not risk it and just order the part number that looks to be compatible.. It's not that much more expensive to buy new.

To revive an old topic (sorry if I missed a newer discussion), what do people notice from front/rear sway bars on their 70 series'? I've finally gotten my suspension to be more comfortable (removed 1 leaf from each of my OME spring packs), and now I'm wondering if I want to retrofit sway bars. How much difference does the front or the rear make?

I'd seen other offroad vehicles with quick-disconnecting sway bars when going offroad, yet still keeping them connected for better highway use.

Thanks in advance!

My BJ74 only had a front sway bar, I completely removed it in July when I redid the trucks suspension. I have not noticed any difference in on road handling, although I bet that high speed emergency maneuvers probably wouldn't be as stable. Offroad the truck articulates and rides much better imo

Thanks for the feedback! Does your BJ74 have front leaf springs or coils springs? I assume removing the sway bar softened the ride as well?

Leaf springs all around (TT parabolics) and yeah it for sure feels less rigid
