Hello all,

This is my first post. I've been reading the forum for a while and usually the previous threads have the answers to my questions. I just bought my fj in December '13, replacing a few parts to get it reliable.

I have been trying to find a good method for dealing with minor rust issues. The frame is good and has full structural integrity but it does have light surface rust that I think probably needs to be taken care of. The back of the tub and bottom of the back door is rusted pretty bad and I will need to replace some metal. Other areas like where the brake master cylinder mounts to the fire wall have deep rust but seems to be intact. Then there are little holes that some one bolted something on and now has rust.

Am I correct that I need to sand, clean, rust removal, rust convert, then primer, then paint?

What are the best products to use and where do I find them?

What are the more economical products? Not going for a full restore right now, just trying to get it stable, then get it looking good later.

Much appreciated!
