65 F motor Dist UPGRADES?

Will a 80-87 2F dist work for upgrading a 65 F motor?

I am not 100% positive, but I think it can. However there might be some vacuum advance issues.

Might be some interference issues with the engine side cover if this is a big cap electronic distributor you are looking at. You could take the side cover off the donor engine though and it should work.

yes it will work, but will need the 81+ fj40/60 US spec side cover(and dizzy, wires, coil/ignitor), great upgrade

I will work great, but realize you will need the matching coil/ignitor as well. You can buy a new side cover with the dent for the distributor head from Toyota for about $75.

The FJ60 large cap distributor has a double vacuum advance, you only need to hook up to one of them, and cap the other. The unused one is the HAC that FJ60s had, but your FJ45 will not.

I did this mod on my FJ40, and it really works well with just a single wire hook up to the ignition.

Why not just go with a non-usa dist?

Call Mudrak or Proffits and get the setup used. side cover, dist.,and coil. purchase OEM wires, cap and rotor good to go! I do this on all my trucks, great upgrade.
