Does anyone know if the end of the tie rod that goes into the arms on the knuckles is the same size on 60 and 80 tie rod ends? I want to switch to the hi-steer arms but have already put on custom upgraded heavy tie-rod and drag link. I just want to us the arms and not of the manufactures seem to know the answer.
Apparently the TRE's on a 60 are a different pitch than the RRE's, but I can't find the pitch for the 60 TRE. In the first link are measurements for the 60 RRE's and 80 TRE's.
From the last link I posted, kevin mentions that he mistakenly bought tie and relay rod ends, implying that the relay rod ends are not the same dimensions.
I have read through these and I see that the taper on the drag link into the pittman arm is different, but nothing on the taper end of the tre. It also mentioned an adapter on the pittman arm but thats 80 to 60 not the other way around. I will however contact 4x4 labs for info.

I can't find info on the taper of the 60 tre either. I don't know if they're the same or not.
The relay rod ends on a 60 are larger than an 80 tre, so you can adapt a 60 relay rod end tapered hole to an 80 tre with the cone washer 4x4labs sells, such as when you are doing a high steer and need an 80 tre to fit into the stock 60 pitman arm. You cannot adapt an 80 tre tapered hole to a 60 relay rod end taper unless you ream the hole out to the same pitch, but I can't find the pitch anywhere. I don't know for sure, but I would wager that Paul has an 80 series pitman arm on his 62, which is why he had to cut his to get the 60 relay rod end to fit.
I know that the Mini's and the 80's physically interchange because I've done it (so have lots of folks). I thought that we'd run this one down in a thread some time ago?
Seems illogical to me that the taper would change, but that the finish diameter might change would be no surprise.

i have seen many post about using 80 ends on a 60 but what i am trying to achieve is to use hi-steer arms on my 60 setup as I have already built up the tie rod and drag link.
Between Mace & I it looks to me like the taper of all three is the same. The major diameter might change some, but as long you need only to go bigger that is easily adjusted with the reamer linked above. And the cone shim mentioned above will let you go smaller.
My reamer has proven really handy in doing X-over on a less than 4" lifted Mini.
So then I guess the question is, what application are the high steer arms? Mini? 60?
Mace and ntsqd are saying that the taper between the relay rod ends and the tie rod ends are the same, but the major diameter is different. Go buy the FJ80 1.2" per foot reamer that I posted a link to above, and ream the holes out to the necessary diameter. If the holes are the larger diameter and you need to adapt to the smaller diameter, then you'll need to call up 4x4 and get some cone spacers.
I know I am blind and read the post to fast but I cant find the mention of the reamer. Which link?
Also I talked with Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters and he told me the Tierod ends are the same.
No, the taper and the depth of the shank are identical for the 60 and 80, so your TRE's will drop right into hi-steer arms built for 80's or mini-truck TRE's all the same. The length I was referring to was the overall length of the tie rod end but it sounds like a non-issue for your setup. Worst case you might have to shorten your actual tie rod and drag link tubes.
