#6 zip cord for aux wiring

Searched the world looking for a high quality 8 gauge wire but seems a lot of the stereo install cable has gone chepo and I found a lot of bad reviews.

Next bet, #8 welding cable... Nobody seems to stock #8 though.

Finally settled on this:

Radaflex Twin 2x6

It's a #6 zip cord, think of it as undersized jumper cable.
Really nice stuff, high strand count wire with two layer jacket that is supposed to be oil and abrasion resistant. Intended uses are industrial or EV charging systems, welding systems, jumper cables, etc..

I'm going to use it for a run to the rear of my 100 series for big accessory loads and HAM radio due to the matched ground and low voltage drop of the big #6.

For wiring the charge to the camper batteries on our CTD/Phoenix I used #6 Duplex wire from West Marine. I doubt that it will matter much, but I like that the wire strands are individually plated for corrosion resistance.

Kicker makes some pretty nice stereo install wire and so does Knukonceptz. I think it's cheaper than welding cable too. I bought a 50' roll of Kicker 1/0 at $4/ft. It's pretty flexible and easy to work with as well.

I started looking at car audio cable as it used to be my go-to.

I found a bunch of bad reviews for multiple brands on Amazon where folks claim that there was no way an 8 ga was an 8 and looked or measured more like 10ga.

I paid less than $1/ft /conductor for the 6 ga. In the past I have always found welding cable to be cheaper and higher quality than audio cable (just not as cool to look at).

That West Marine cable looks nice but as usual if its for a boat I can't afford it...looks to be over 2.50/ft/conductor.

Marine Duplex wire is what you want. It's really excellent, just not cheap.

Just remember in Marine wire, the convention is hot is read and ground is yellow. That's to prevent confusion with dock power hook ups where black might be hot on a white neutral wire.

WestMarine sells it, but I got it from the link above in about 3 days for much less $$.

My local West Marine store sells it both ways, a red and yellow pair and a red and black pair. The red/yellow combo is called "Safety Wire" for some reason. I figure that the while cost is high, I can have it the day that I want it and I won't be needing to redo it any time soon. My time is worth the price difference because I don't have a lot of it to spare.
