Thanks for inviting me to your meeting last night....sorry that I hijacked it for so long. As I said, I appreciate any comments or recommendations you may have which will help me to shape the direction of the 4wdabc. Please don't hesitate to drop me a note if there's anything I can address.

I will be primarily posting association news on our website (4wdabc.com is active, 4wdabc.ca is in mid-migration to our new hosting service), but also have started a "Speak to the 4WDABC" forum on BC4x4. I will check back here regularly as well.

Thanks again!

Steve:
Thanks very much for coming and updating us on 4WDABC activities last night. We didn't have time after you left to discuss what members are thinking about this matter, but over the next while we'll be giving our opinions and I will contact you. Meanwhile, best of luck to you and the association in your efforts to revitalize your membership and effectiveness, its a worthy cause. Meanwhile, do any of you who were at the meeting last night have any comments now?

Last night someone asked me about budgets. While I don't want to go into great detail at this time, my rough operating costs for 2007 include show admission (Abbotsford trade show), web hosting, posting and printing costs, government filing fees, etc -- around $1100. I'm also looking at appropriate insurance coverage to protect Association members during association endorsed events. I expect this to significantly exceed $1000.....

They already have my Membership. I think we should help out whenever we can. We all use some of the sites that the 4wdabc is maintaining. If we incorporate a little time for maintenance when we are using the sites and let the 4wdabc know in advance we could save someone else from going out just to maintain the sites. Let’s do our part.

Instead of reinventing the wheel (no pun intended) / putting a ton of effort into something all over again, why not look back at previous minutes or talk to some past 4WDABC principals about insurance.

This matter is "considered" every few years.

We are doing this....and don't worry about snarky. I'm certainly not interested in repeating a lot of work that's been done in the past....but I am trying to ensure that insurance coverage meets our current needs. There are some new coverage alternatives (within the last year or so) that are available to us that may be more applicable to our current mode of operation.

The 4WDABC has BOD insurance (or did anwyays), that was my going away present during my short presidential tenure.

Thanks for chiming in! Yes, that policy was still live. Unfortunately, the current financial position of the association has forced us to suspend the coverage for the short term.
