Hello, guys-

You can tell from my bio that I'm a 55 guy, used to be a 40 guy, and now (based on a 45 scam that I'm sure you've all seen) I feel that itching to become a 45 guy.

Regarding the LWB pickups (I don't have an interest in the 45 wagons), how late did they make "world" versions of the LHD model?

Were versions, gas or diesel, imported into CD in later (late '70's, early '80's) years?

Does anyone know the bed SIZE or volume CAPACITY of the LWB (trying to make a comparison to a US full-size bed)?

Does anyone know the payload rating of a LWB? Are they rated as a half-ton, with the semi-floating axle?

The bed is 16" deep, 62"wide (at the rails) and 84.5" long inside the gate. As far as I know the chassis is referred to as a 1 ton. GVWR is 3065 front and 4880 rear on mine (1978). To my limited knowledge the LPB (LWB) was sold in Canada until 1984 and only as an FJ (inline 6cyl gas) with the full floating rear axle and 4spd. I don't hear much about them between 67 and 77. Anybody out there know more??

Realistic capacity is probably a little over half of a 3/4 ton American full size.. maybe. They will take a beating if they haven't already. With the wheelbase being much shorter and with the extended bed towing or a heavy load make the steering sketchy. If you are going to be doing some serious hauling don't be in a hurry.. Their capabilities were great for the era but don't try to substitute one for a full-size modern rig. Most have drum brakes that are high maintenance and don't favor sitting or neglect.
They brought them in officially until 1967 in the US with gas only. Later in Canada (70's?) don't know if gas or diesel was available up north.

Thanks. I would think a LWB (Canadien) model from the 80's with a FF axle and disc front would be pretty stable, wouldn't it?

I might keep my eye out for one. I don't see much on on-line searches; are clean, straight ones fetching pretty $$'s?

There was a silly nice one matching your description w/ 2FE and aluminum trayback for 19.5k in the last 9 mos. Be patient and look around they are out there and ManAfredi has posted half of them here :D I looked for about a year and still jumped on one that I knew better of. Still lovin it though.
