Is this from a manual or power steering column?
Thanks for asking. I didn't mention that because I wasn't sure. I gathered some parts to build and restore a collapsible column for an 83 bj40. This shaft was a spare and the exact same length as the one I'm currently using with all OEM PS parts. When everything was assembled, the entire length was much shorter than the manual shaft( non collapsible) i removed. So I'm guessing this would work. Seems to be a lot of room in there for the shaft to move up or down...... but this is my first time working on a collapsible.

That would be great, thank you! We could learn something here.

Anyone know if there is two different part numbers for manual or PS? I only found one....

Found one but it's buried. The shaft will be shorter even on the manual box. Has to have room to collapse in an accident. Just a rough estimate is 8" for the manual shaft. Would take more to get a better measurement. Part number for manual shaft is 45220-60060. Power steering shaft is 45220-60070.

Thanks for that. So I took two measurements. One is just the shaft, the other is from the surface of the workbench that would include the thickness of the flange. Both measurements are under 8 inches...... but dang, looks like 10 inches to me lol.

Let me see if I can get the measurement between the pin and flange in your last picture. Should be around 30MM longer. For the collapsible column to work it has to have room to slide in during an accident. I see if can get a measurement.

Okay using a small screwdriver was able to measure to shaft pin without dismantling. Definitely longer. I can measure over 6" of the shaft that is exposed.

I'll take it. What's the price with shipping to 85345?

Sounds good, thanks for checking those measurements. I'll be in town shortly and will check on a cheap flat rade shipping. Will get back to you shortly.
