40 Series manual steering gear box

1981 40 series with a manual steering box. It was rebuilt about 8 years ago.
Today when I checked the lube I found it had a solid grease lube and not the recommended 90 weight.

So its a what do I do situation? I don’t what to tear it down and scrape the grease out. Do I pump more solid lube into it? Do I pour in 90 wt ?

Thoughts?

The seals aren’t readily available. As a result, many people put grease in them instead of gear oil so it won’t leak out.

If you don’t want to reseal it, add grease if it needs it.

Seals were available 8 years ago? The box work great and I don’t want to tear it down. I assume that a solid lube is an adequate lubricant?
