I'm trying to decide if my 4 way flashers work correctly. When the 4 way flashers are active and you step on the brakes, should the lights continue to flash or do they go solid on? I'm thinking they should flash but what happens??

Signals work just fine, you have a signal on and then step on the brake and the signal continues to flash and the opposite side tail light comes on solid.

The wires might be crossed somewhere. I had that problem in my FJ40. I just kept switching the wires in the tail lights around until it worked. Try to get the side that the wires come from the front done first (does that make sense?) then the other. You have a wiring diagram?

I have a spare hazard switch so I'll give that a go first and see what happens.

The truck side is all wired as per the OEM wiring and I do have a wiring diagram. Do you think that the front and rear are reversed? Are you sure that the hazard lights should continue to flash even when the brakes are on (remember the hazard and the brake uses the same filament in the rear lights)?

The other hazard switch works the same way and the old switch checks out according to the shop manual.

Sounds like I'm OK then!!
