hey guys

Just a quick question regarding the 4 speed gearbox. I am looking at getting the Marlin Toy Box and mating it to the stock 4 speed box and T case.

From my research the 4 speed box is a H42 (?)

Right, on to my question.

Did toyota use the same model box in all their 40 series cruisers? I ask because I am down here in New Zealand and I would hate to order the Toy Box and find it only fitted the US boxes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

David

hey champ is that 4-speed the early or he late gearbox? The early gearbox is referred to as the shorter box (being found in 40-series) and the later is found in the 60-series and is referred to as the longer box.

What engine do you have it mounted behind?

I need to mount a short 4-speed behind a 2H and I need to know if it is possible?

Hi All:

Greetings from North America! :)

If you are speaking of a 1970 or 80s production 40 Series TLC then it is either a H41 or H42 four speed transmission.

The H41 is probably what you have in New Zealand; I believe the H42 four speed was only used in the Canadian and US markets. These two transmissions are basically interchangeable.

The big issue for your question is the application. You need to remove your transfer case and confirm what the output shaft spline count is before you order the Marlin Crawler ToyBox. Don't assume that the spline count of all H41/42 rear output shafts are the same!

Regards,

Alan
