I’m considering 4.88s and wondering if there’s anyone around Portland with 35s and 4.88 that would be willing to let me try driving.

Have you considered leaving the diffs at the stock 4.10 ratio and doing the transfer case regear with the underdrive? I just did this on mine with 35s and theoretically it puts the 4 high gearing back where it was on stock 31" tires. I'm in Portland and would be happy to meet up if you wanted to check it out.

I also did the low range gears while in there (the main reason for the work actually) and it is fantastic on trail in low range.

T-case gears are definitely the cheaper option.
