Where is my pcv valve and do I need to remove the air intake to get to it?

Its in the valve cover underneath the passengers side of the intake. If you have some looonnnggg needle nose pliers, you can get it without taking the intake off. That said, it gives you an excuse to pull the intake and then take the injectors out for servicing.

Well I got the majority of the tune-up done. I did a new cap and rotor not too hard. Changed the spark plugs - what a pain! But it definitely needed to be done. New plug wires and greased the drivelines. I also changed the oil and filter while I was at it. I didn't change the pcv valve yet. I am waiting until I have enough down time to also get the intake and injectors cleaned. What kind of shop will do this? I also still need to change the fuel filter. Can I just unscrew the fuel lines at the filter and catch the extra fuel that is under pressure in a bucket or something? When I get the new one on do I just crank the engine until it starts to get fuel back in the lines or is there more to it than that?

My idle seems to be just a little low so I think I will attempt to adjust that as well. I have not messed with the timing either. It seems a little intimidating to me and I don't want to make it worse if things seem to be running well.

I have already driven it about 140 miles and it seems to run way smoother with a lot more responsiveness in the throttle. I will check to see if my milage has improved in the next few days.

Thanks for all the help and if you guys have any more tips or advice I would appreciate it.

Hilux, I am beginning to agree with you on the uselessness of both of these books. I'm considering returning the Haynes despair manual as it has not been anywhere near as much help as this forum or the factory one available here on Mud.
