So my dad is letting me borrow his rig. Its a 1973 FJ40 with a Chevy 350 in it. It still has the stock 3 speed tranny, which is now shot if Im not mistaken, and we are curious if a 4 speed tranny from a newer cruiser will bolt right up to where the 3 speed was. It has an adapter plate to mount the 3 speed in, so I am assuming that it should just bolt right up.

The transmissions are two different animals as far as the input bearing retainer are concerned...


You will need to change the flywheel housing to one that is designed to work with the Toyota four-speed transmission..
