3fe short block

Are all 3fe short blocks the same. I know that complete 3fe motors are listed from 1988-1990 and then from 1990-1992. Are the engine short blocks the same? Or what is the difference between the two types? Thx inadvance

The hole in the back of the crank is different between the two. If you find a later model, you'll need the later model torque converter. If you have an early one, you'll need the early torque converter.
