The guide I am using says removing the air injection system is optional. How would I go about capping it without having to remove the rail? Thank you

bump! Anyone?
cap the hard pipe feeding the injector rail from the smog pump. Looking at the pictures provided above, i do not see the air injection hard pipe in the pic. Could PO removed it?

I thought that was what that valve looking think with 3 black hoses running off it was…
It’s possible. PO had a shop do an engine swap and already rerouted the belt off the air pump so it’s not functional
The pipe looks like this:
Probably the PO made the proper fix - removed the pipe and capped the air injector holes with genuine Toyota caps. If not this is their PN: 90340-14001.

The air injector rail is still there. I’ll take more pictures when I get home and clean it up with the other egr stuff left in to get a better look
From your photo I can only see the air injector rail's "shield" still mounted. Its hold in place by three bolts and can also be removed:

Well, I can only imagine how the air injectors are tapped. In your case I would make the proper fix and use the genuine Toyota plugs mentioned in one of my previous posts

Hey man. You were right. I appreciate it. I took off some stuff over it and was able to see PO had cut the air lines and filled the ends with epoxy lol. So they’re airtight
But eventually I will absolutely use the correct plugs
