Having a hell of a time getting FJ80 with 3fe to start. Rebuilt motor about 500 miles ago. Ran fine and then I upgraded old injectors with new four hole injectors about 50 miles ago. Was running well and then it stopped and will not start up again. Not getting CEL to come on while starting. Also not getting fuel pump to come on. Not getting spark at all. Checked relays, all good. I also replaced distributor, fuel pump, spark plugs, wires, coil and still nothing. Only missing to replace igniter. I can manually feed 12v to run fuel pump and hear it run though fuel lines to injectors but still no spark and this is only with manually feeding 12v to pull pump otherwise no fuel an no pump. No spark to distributor. Is there a fail safe that kills all spark in case of accident. Also tried a spare ECU and nothing. The last thing I did was upgrade the injectors to four hole injectors. Ran well for about 30 miles then died. Is it possible that the wires on the injector harness got to close to motor and melted causing a fail safe? Any ideas?

No CEL at start up? Check you EFI fuse in the fuse box in the engine compartment. And replace it. It is the 15A fuse. If that doesn't do it follow Jon Held's guideline above. It's probably simple.

Take a deep breath. Theses motors are simple and damn near indestructible.

If you have no CEL with the key in the "on" position, the rest is moot.

Follow the guide and suspect fusible links, also suspect the MAF if it has been tampered with.

So the last thing you replaced was the injectors right? So maybe that is where the fault lies?

New MAF when I rebuilt the motor. No Luck. Could be fuseable link but wouldn't this prevent getting 12V to EFI relay. I'm getting 12V here but not getting power to distributor or fuel pump.

Might be that the power lines are to close to motor and melted causing a short. I'm going to drive back out to the lease and tow it back. Tried to put it on a flat bed a week ago but it was too wide to fit in the flat bed.

I have heard of the fusible links allowing voltage through but failing under load. When you rebuilt the engine did you replace the fusible links? If not, get you some new ones, they cost less than a 12-pack! If you have no CEL with the key "on" you need to diagnose that first. No CEL = no start.

Did you get it figured out?
