yeah, metric vs standard diameter isn't all that critical, once it's flared into the nuts.

Aint rocket surgery, I made a custom metric/standard hose for a truck once, drilled out the nut and flared the tube with a ball peen hammer....:hillbilly:

much to my amazement, it never did leak....

coast industrial can make the hoses if you aren't as skilled with a hammer as "the Oceanic Tuberous one":p

...u cant just use a flaring tool like with brake lines? im still sore from the last time i got bent over getting custom lines...and they wernt even what i asked for! but they worked...and i needed them so....bite the bullet, s*** happens i guess

yeah you can use flaring tools, and all that bling stainless stuff...

but then you won't be able to tell people you flared your ps lines with a hammer.:hillbilly:

( course if that talk of ss lines, fittings and benders was directed at me, then fxxxin A, I'll ready the beer supply...)

I think I'm going to adaptify the minitruck ps pump I have to work. so just lines will do me.

I often get these moments where I think of using the proper parts, then I dig in the goat barn and find free s*** I can use. gawd I'm cheap.

I'm clear of the distraction of womenfolk for the next few weeks so I should actually be able to accomplish some s*** in the garage in the evenings.

ya... my cruiser is parked until september when I get back from ontario... so I'll pick up a flat of beer or two when I get back and we can see about getting power steering into it... and perhaps disk brakes... those are both pretty high up in the wish list.

Ryan I'm pretty sure that the minitruck pumps are the same as cruiser ones except for the reservior. I got a 3B one and a remote reservior to mount it on the fender, worked OK to get it away from the header. Mini ones have the wrong pully though.

Heh, I actually just came in from the garage, mounted up the mini truck pump under the alt on the 3b.

I have to get that fitting that holds the hose from the remote res into the pump, (just a little retainer whizjammer with a 10mm bolt) and I think it'll work.

( provided this nasty old pump I had in the barn that I have no recollection of acquiring still works...)

any idea what the little fitting that looks like a vacuum switch on the side of the mini pump is for?

I think it's a 1/2" pulley on there instead of the cruiser 5/8", close enough for me...:hillbilly:

I'll probably make a quick pitstop at south island shysters tomorrow for that ps pump thing.

at this point, methinks this thread needs a name change...

I have a stock res that bolts on to the pump with 2 bolts from the back side. If it won't fit, you might be able to cut it up to use just the mounts and tube (maybe extend it a little). Depends on your current level of cheap bastardness...

No idea...

Go look at the 2H swap thread, Jason swapped out the piece you need!!!

yep, that's the piece...

I sent my shopping list over to john yesterday, so I'll probably be by the shop in the next few days hopefully, see if I can't do some trading...

Think I figgered out what the vacuum thing is for, apparently it's an idle up valve. I'll just plug it and forget about it. :D

ya it is idle up and you dont need to plug it, ive left mine unplugged for 6 years and it doesnt seem to do anything

ya and someday some landrover lovin limey might poke his head under there to see wtf going on and catch his scrarf on it and spill his gin and tonic. you never can be too safe on a project like this.

Ahh, gin and tonics dude, it's all about the quinine. never can be too careful when you're around mosquitoes.

scarfs also come handy, you can sew a rock in one end and use it to repel marauding savages, and it's more socially acceptable than a sock, certain people will always question why a guy would have a sock close to hand in his truck.

As for the limey's I think I've offended them already with this one, when a discussion of axle strength came up , I wasn't entirely able to restrain my amusement....nor was I very subtle in expressing it......:hillbilly:
