3B 24v overcharging

All ground points checked, cleaned, replaced… battery to frame replaced, frame mount point cleaned, block to frame replaced, bulkhead to frame added, reg box mount bracket cleaned of paint, alternator grounded direct to frame. The repaired regulator was linked back up and everything tested and monitored for an hour or more. All working correctly. Charge voltage 27.5 - 28.5V. This was the case with the old batteries though whilst the original test at the shop said these were OK our testing showed 100% charge but 65% health so new batteries also fitted.

Now fitted an LED voltmeter (Ammeter doesn’t work) and added the charge light circuit that I was missing, though I have missed something as not working.

So it would appear the issue was a ground but still makes little sense given original checks.
