The 350 V-8 in my 71 FJ40 has been running kinda crappy for about a week and a half. Only had it out a couple of times. Acted like it was getting way too much fuel. Was beginning to wonder if the power valve blew, but the Truck Avenger carb is supposed to have power valve "protection".

Was doing some other work and found the vacuum line to the vacuum advance on the HEI distributer had been pulled off.

Then it dawned on me that my son had wiped down the chrome valve covers and air cleaner the night of a hot rod show that Colorado Boy and I went to along with another local Land Cruiser owner (FJ45 pickup)., and that's around when it started getting doggy.

Hooked it back up and now it purrs like a kitten again.

Sometimes ya get lucky and it's just the little things that go wrong.
