3.8 v6 engine conversion

I have a 1997 Hzj75 ute with the h55 tranny. I have acess to a cheap average quality vs 3.8 v6 n was wondering bout doing a conversion . I know its realitivly common in hiluxs n have found kits to do this swap for older n newer cruisers but nothing with this gearbox. Was just wondering if anyone has known of this conversion or any reason it wont work. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Its a terrible conversion, it will be slow, thirsty and just generally crap. Motor has relatively poor low down torque and is harsh up high. Is the 1HZ dead? Better conversions are to a 350 Chev/LS series v8.

x3 it would be a backwards move what's wrong with the 1HZ its a pretty good engine for a 70 series truck, if you want more HP and torque go for an LS we stuck one in my FJ75 it was a relatively easy conversion and runs well.
