hi all.

i have a 92 surf with the 2lte. What im wondering is, can i increase the fuel by adjusting somthing on the injector pump? i run increased boost (7psi over standard) and was thinking extra fuel will help performance. I used to own a (dont hate me for this one!:whoops:) 93 nissan terrano with the TD27t and a friend showed me how to increase the fuel on that with a screw on the side of the pump. this increased the performance HUGELY and it also ran smoother and colder most of the time. i also think it used less fuel. not sure how, maybe just because the motor wasnt under as much strain, or maybe i was dreaming.
:hhmm:
I heard that the TE pumps have a sensor that compensates the fuel to the boost it recieves, is this correct? it blows no smoke at all even under hard acceleration from stand still.

any help would be appreciated, it may be as simple as a NO you cant but if i was able to it be great! thanks all!

I'm new to the L series scene, so I would like to know also. I know that the 2L-T pumps can be manually adjusted and have an aneroid boost compensator. I do not know where the screw is though.

2L-T"E" scares me because of the "E" part. It makes me think that fuel is probably metered and controlled by the EFI computer.

yeah ive heard the 2-LT pumps can be fiddled with but like you said, its the "E" thats dodgy. From what i understand the E is for EFI. i could be totaly wrong but thats what i was under the impression it was. this shouldnt mean i cant change it though? im relativly new to diesels but on a petrol motor you can increase fuel pressure and increase injector size as long as its within the factory ECUs cc tolerances. whats the worst that could happen? check engine light or it wont run? if its only a screw its reversible so im keen to see what happens!

I just got a 3L-T and I haven't played with it yet. However, I should be able to pick it up pretty quick and have some fun with it. As I look on some of the other forums out there. It looks like the "E" pumps do not have a manual screw. I've just seen some post while doing a google search that say they're not adjustable.

The "E" does stand for EFI or electronically controlled.

they're not adjustable.

:frown::frown: i figured as much coz i couldnt find any info on it eather... that makes me sad because i think i need a bit more fuel... any other ways i could increase this or trick the ECU into pumping more thru? im gunna have a good look at my pump one day when it stops frikken raining when im not at work!

As with anything electronic, there may be a chip.

...or, you could always see what it would take to swap everything to manual control.

there is a fuel adjust screw on the 2l-te pump, its covered though. I'm not sure where it is, but if you have a look on toyotasurf.asn.au/forum there are threads on where and how to adjust the screw. when playing around with it you should have a, egt meter, turning up the fuel will make it run hotter. those engines don't like to be hot, they tend to crack, mine did.

Just incase anyone is curious, i did find the fuel screw on the 2lte pump and i did turn it up, and it did make a diffence haha! oh i now have a 1KZ-te and the pumps are very similar. Ive turned this one up too!!! so they ARE adjustable u just have to lever off a steel cover, which id imagine scares most people off
