Hi guys again.. So I have encountered another 2L powered truck that needs a new injection pump... Body on it is pretty clean actually and it overall is pretty clean with about 180K miles on it. I can get the truck for $500. Problem is I can't find anyone who will rebuild the pump for less than $700-800, or the quotes that are lower are all saying "I can rebuild it but I havn't before so I can't say for sure what it will cost." Labor to remove and replace the pump is 4.1 hours according to Toyota. I'm sure it would cost me more of course.. I am familiar with techniques required to put it in but am a little scared to do it, mostly because of timing issues and not having a manual. For exmaple, how do I find TDC on it and lock it in place?

Anyway, anyone have any advice..? I seem to recall someone here had a used pump for a 2L once upon a time.. Best, Andre

Can you find a manual on the web?

There must be matchmarks and to find TDC is fairly simple.

In the 3b manual it talks about using a standpipe and watching for rise of the fuel while hand cranking...... I have never done one.

Should not be too hard tho. (from what I have read) wonder if a 2l-t is similar.

Maybe you can find on ebay a cheaper "exchange" pump. I would look for the exchange first.
