I had an engine swap in my car, because gaskets for my 2H-engine ordered by using the VIN-number didn't all fit.

I found two numbers:

The serial number: 1189157
The casting number (but I am not sure if this is the right one, because there are also part numbers ending with this number): 68030

Does anybody have a clue from which year this engine is?
If it is indeed the casting number, I would say 30th of august 1986?

Have you thought about posting onto this thread:

Which of the gaskets in your set don't fit? Do you have the head off the block? The presence or absence of cylinder liners is the 1985 dividing line. Before and after that, the variations in the engines are fairly minor, AFAIK. The really early 2H's had twin fuel filters, and after October 1983 you get the Superglow set ups in most markets, which made for minor changes to the intake manifold casting.

I had a problem with my head gasket (number unknown), which I ordered with the gasket kit 04111-68013 and with the gasket for the oilfilter housing 15691-68011.

I gave you a picture of my cylinder block also. Looks the are not sleeved, aren't they?

Thanks, that helps a lot!

I am still curious what this 68030 number is, because thinking about it: it can't be a date YMMDD; there is no 80th month...

Is it a part number or can I find the part number somewhere else.

Anybody knows where I CAN find the casting number on the 2H-engine (like the one found on another type of Land Cruiser engine in the picture below; YMMDD)

The Toyota part number for an early type 2H sleeved short block assembly is 11400-68010

For the later type with parent bore block the number is 11400-68020

Whether either of those numbers relates to the 68030 on the side of your block is unknown to me, but it does look like part of a part number

If that is the case, I wouldn't suprise me that 68030 is part the part number, probably 11400-68030. Making a search on the Parts Reference:

Search in market: N. America Europe Japan General
Part 11400‑68030 (BLOCK ASSY, SHORT) was found on the following models:

But that is not the answer, because the search gives only 12HT engines, while it says clearly 2H on the site of the engine .

I figured out with help of car owners with engines of known age, that the my engine with serial number 1189157 is from roughly march 1986.

Hopefully this will give an indication for other people.

Thanks! Min is 1182834 so I think early 86 as well.
