I bought my first Landcruiser, 87 HJ60, with 414,000 klicks in 2002. My intention at the time was to buy a truck and travel trailer to take my family to PEI, where I am from, and back to Vancouver. I think our loaded weight of truck and trailer was in the neighbourhood of 13,000 lbs. I didn't realize at the time how crazy I was.

I know I have told this story to a few of you and it seems that everyone just shakes their head.

Anyhow, 15000 kms and 6 weeks later, we arrived home after a successful journey. It cemented my loyalty to Landcruisers in general and the 2H/H55 in particular.

I have looked for photos of the truck and trailer from that trip but damn, I didn't take any. I was moving the trailer yesterday so I took the opportunity. :)

No, I didn't have anything like that happen. The Cruiser handled the load very well. Maybe a little sluggish on the hills but... :D

We did have the coupler on the trailer let go when we were pulling out of a fuel station in Saskatchewan. It couldn't have happened at a better time though.

The mountains must have been slow with that amount of weight. I had a similar experience wit bringing the project truck up, granted that was only Seattle to here but still an entertaining day. Truck - 5500lbs (give or take), trailer: 2300lbs, project truck: somewhere around 2500lbs, and the 3B keeps going.

I've done a similar thing with my BJ60 but I don't think I'd do it again. Flatbed trailer + FJ55 behind the BJ60 from LA to Vancouver via Interstate 5. It was fine on the flats but it sure felt squirrelly in the mountains especially downhill!

hey kim, judging from the photo it would seem you swapped the 2H into the new FJ62? or id you tow the trailer with the FJ62 as well? darn, she looks so pretty though!
