noticed a lot of carb rebuild kits on various sites. Any preferences on which are best? I really want to send mine out to Jim C, but I haven’t heard back from him. I know he is very busy. Also, do carbs vary much from year to year, especially 1980 - 87.

Order one from @cruiseroutfit if you’re going to do it yourself. They carry a lot of carb kits and have the correct one for the FJ60.

The US carburetors for the FJ60 1980-1987 are all the same. Some of the parts kits (eg. hygrade) are compatible over a wider range (include also earlier FJ40 carbs) and hence the secondary diaphragm provided in the kit is WRONG for the FJ60. You can get the correct secondary diaphragm from napa.

I got mine from cruiser outfitters. i cant recall who i talked to on the phone, but they really knew their stuff and helped me get exactly what i needed. HIGHLY recommended

I couldn't agree more. Bryce, Chris or Kurt - you can't go wrong. they are some of the best in the business.

Kurt's awesome. Have your VIN ready if you call them, they may need it to double check they send you the right carb kit.

I found the NAPCO website and downloaded their 2016 catalog. They offer potentially 3 different kits that overlay with an FJ60 with the 2F engine. For reference the toyota part numbers for carburetors and kits in USA and Canada are:

USA: Carburetor: 21100-61140/41/42 Rebuild Kit: 04211-61170/71

Canada: Carburetor: 21100-61102/41/42 Rebuild Kit: 04211-61140/41

It's interesting that the Canadian carburetors supersede to the 2nd/3rd generation USA carb (21100-61141/42) but the rebuild kit numbers remain different...

The NAPCO kit 11-T191A interchanges with 04211-61140 (Canadian carb). The 11-T192A and 11-T199A kits interchange with 04211-61170 and 04211-61171 respectively (both for USA carbs).

None of this helps us find these kits in the USA, though.

*the catalog also shows fuel pump repair kits for FJ4x through FJ55 F and 2F engines.

I've never been able to find the other 60-series kits and those, I think, just have bits for a 3F carby, though I haven't looked at that catalog in a while.

I didn't search for carb kit info last week but maybe I should have. I ordered mine from O'reilly. It worked and I got it local on short notice. My only gripe is that it didn't include the accel pump spring, which thankfully I didn't need. I'd be curious if the other kits include all the springs.

can someone tell me where these 2 rubber O-rings go on the rebuild? mine did not have these after full breakdown.

also FYI the Keyster #carb61102/3 does not come with throttle body gasket View attachment 3091370

I can't see a pic here, but it shows (kinda) on my phone :meh:

If I'm seeing correctly, the large ring is for the Fuel Sight Glass window and the small one goes on the end of the ICS nozzle

okay thanks, did not think to take glass off. i updated pic. now to figure out what the ics nozzle is…

The NAPCO kit mentioned above is a better kit

ICS = FCS = Idle Control Solenoid, or some call it Fuel Cut Solenoid.

Thing on the end of the green connector.
