Sorry guys if this is covered somewhere else, I could only really find things on 255/80's. My main question is if anyone on here is running this size? specifically with no lift. I have ran skinny tires on my 1st gen Tacoma and loved them. I'm just curious how the GX handles skinny's and some photos if you have any!

Thanks guys!

255/80 no lift here. a little trimming and perfect size to me.

and running boards and the inner fender needs to be pushed forward and little ridge on front fender behind the wheel trimmed. But no hard surfaces are hit.

I run 245/75r17 Goodyear Silent Armor. Theyve been awesome in more than 20k miles. Off road parks with other toyotas several times. 20mpg. Awesome in normal mud. Awesome in snow. Awesome on the highway. And $140/tire when I bought them. Perfect without a lift as they are 31.6” so an inch taller than stock
After my 2” lift they look fine but ill be moving to bigger tires soon. I put 255/80r17 km2s on for a day but they were super loud on the highway, kinda bouncy and rubbed the liner a bit.

Silent Armors

Another good option is 255/75r17 KO2

I have to admit, I don't understand the idea of reducing the contact patch. MPG's?

Nice! you wouldn't happen to have a photo if it from the front would you? Have you aired down with 245s? i was looking at 255/75/r17s too but i found a great deal on a set of Cooper S/T Maxx's at around $140 a tire.

Skinnier tires are better in snow, ice, sand and generally are pretty sweet. They can dig in better because they cut through the surface and arent as floaty. Theyre also pretty classic and fit the narrow profile of the 120 really well. Have you seen videos of old cars offroading with skinny tires? Very impressive actually.

Get the coopers at that price. I have aired down to about 20psi and maybe lower and drove all over trails and rocks. Never had any issues.

But I just noticed. The Silent Armor weighs in at 40 lbs, but in that same size the cooper is a 10 ply E rated and weighs 52lbs! Thats really going to hit your mpg and acceleration. The stock tire is 36 lbs so the silent armor is pretty close in weight.

255/75R17 KM3’s, I have an OME medium lift. 17x7.5” wheels with a 6mm offset. Running boards removed and I rub a bit on the inner liner by the front bumper, will massage with a heat gun this weekend.

Yeah that is pretty heavy for a 245. I really would like to run a Load C tire.

I ran some 235/85R16 on my 3rd gen 4runner and I really liked them. way less tendency to hyrdroplane compared to the 265s. Also like mentioned before they kept the weight down a good bit. The only downside I had was cornering stability was a bit more mushy feeling, but its and aspect ratio of 85 and an inch taller than stock, so it wasnt surprising.
