I bought a bj42 24volt that had a wiper motor that wasn't working. Everytime you flipped the switch it would pop a fuse. I took it off there to see the issue and finally noticed it said, "12 volt" right on the cover. I have scoured the internet to look for a replacement 24 volt motor and all I found was one on ebay for $800. apparently these are tough to find! I bought a 24 volt motor from a peterbilt truck for $32 on amazon to retrofit that in. I actually got it to work but only by charging the entire housing, which blew the fuse right when I'd bolt it on. I believe the cruiser is wired for a ground switch and the motor I have is wired to be a postive switch. It was also too big to go under the cover! If I wanted to I could probably rewire the switch in the cruiser to make it work but I'd rather avoid that if i can. But it is a better option than spending $800 on the ebay one.

Two questions. Does anybody have a good place they use that can rewind the 12 volt motor to make into a 24 volt? I called a few places around the portland area that told me no. Alternatively does anybody have a solution like I got halfway there and retrofitted in a peterbilt motor?

Hi,

I know some of the 40´s operate on 24 volts to start and then switch to run eveything else on 12v, a lot from Europe where like that, just check are you other electrical parts all 12 or 24 volt first.

I could get you a 24 volt wiper motor here on the Canary Islands and post to you if you are stuck.

Could you repurpose one of these 70 series 24v motors to work?
