SILVER Star
22RTE Exhaust Side
The exhaust manifold, turbo, and oil feed/return tubing are apparent differences. Turbo coolant feed barb is located behind the coolant pump (red arrow). Oil feed banjo bolt hole is located behind the engine coolant drain at the rear of the block (yellow arrow). Oil return engine block flange is just above the oil pan (white arrow). The block doesn't have oil squirters.
Upper Intake Plenum
I read somewhere the cross-sectional area of the 22RTE intake runners are larger. I would say that is debatable.
Lower Intake Plenum
22RTE fuel injector holes are larger and contain an adapter for cylinders 1 and 2 (red arrows). Once again, I don't see a difference in the cross-sectional area between the 22RTE and 22RE intake runners.
Oil Cooler with Hoses
Oil cooler is found under the intake plenums. The 22re doesn't have an oil cooler.
22RTE Piston
The turbo pistons are dished to lower compression.
