Alright I've prolly gone off the deep end but I want to start to put together a 22re with a stand alone fuel management system and a high boost setup from LC Engineering. The trick that I am running into is that I haven't found an adapter to go from a 22re to a 700R4. This is going to be a long time out on the build, but I want to see if all the parts exist or I am going to be trying to fab something totally new and different.

Anyway the question is has anyone seen the setup or seen where I can find the adapter for the transmission? Since that so far looks to be the hardest part of the driveline combo I'm looking to put together.

Ideas.......... thoughts.......... am I crazy? :flipoff2:

Toyota's W56 gear ratios look like this:
1st 3.954
2nd 2.141
3rd 1.384
4th 1.000
5th 0.850

the 700R4 ratios: (did you know the 4L60E is the same tranny, only electronically controlled?) :D

1st 3.06
2nd 1.62
3rd 1.00
4th 0.70

clearly, the 22RE would be a DOG!
the numbers prove the reason you cant find an adapter.

it makes no sense.

OK, I understand ratios. Wasn't the point, already on a 4 spd stick to start with. The complete combo was 22re w/ turbo, 700r4 and atlas case. So ratios are mute for the off road driving.

I don't know a whole lot about it, but it seems that offroad you'd be working that motor pretty hard, and when you factor in the turbo and lack of airflow, you might be putting yourself in danger of overheating a lot.

Wouldn't the toy slushbox fit the bill just as well? Even with the turbo, I don't think you'd be able to toast it.....

The autos always have a lower first gear ratio.. but the torque converter more than makes up for it! If you want a 700r4, find yourself a 4.3l to go in front of it!

Whole point was to do it a little different, 4.3 chev is more cost efficient and easier. I'm looking to build something a bit more unique. Trust me the whole turbo part is not going to be cheap either.

Bob Roggy of C&R motorsports in Placerville Ca ( search on pirate 4x4) built one.
