Help ! I need guidance !
My truck, a 91 4runner 22RE Std, has been acting up;
Poor drivability from about 1800 to 2500 RPM, looses power, worse when the engine is at normal temps.
Pulled codes and got 24 and 31. I pulled the ECU fuse and drove it again and got the same codes.
24 = Intake air temp Sensor Signal
- open or short in intake air temp sensor
1 - Intake air temp circuit
2 – Intake Air temp sensor
3 – ECU
31 = Manifold and or Airflow meter sensor signal circuit
1- airflow meter circuit
2- manifold pressure/circuit
3- ECU
With the stock AFM I cleaned the contacts and tested the air temp sensor, had normal resistance values. Also checked the wires inside the boot that covers the back of the AFM connector.
Got a used 82 supra afm, plug and play mod for the 22RE 4Runners. Same problems.
I plan on checking the resistance values for the rest of the AFM and checking the connections at the ECU.
The common between the two codes is the ECU, from everything I’ve read, the ECU very very rarely goes.
Sorry for the book, but, where should I go from here?
