Have a 1985 EFI truck that sat for 4 years. Went to start it and wouldn't start. Found a mouse nest below air filter. Changed the air filter, replaced fuel tank tank because rusted, fuel filter, open circuit relay, main relay, and spark plugs. When I go to start it, it will run for about 2 or 3 seconds then stop. Ohmed out the air flow meter and all seems fine. Jump the fuel pump and hear fuel running but it just won't stay running. Also when I on suck on vacum line at pressure regulator it will pump fuel. If nothing is jumped, and truck has sat it will run for 2 or 3 second and stop. If I try starting again it will not even start unless I let it sit for 10 mins or so. If I jumper the connector for the fuel pump will start for 2 or 3 seconds then stop every time. Please help!

Next I would look at the Cold start injector and the cold start injector time switch. Make sure there working and adding extra fuel until the engine is warm.

check all the ground spots on the motor, check wiring off of maf make sure something didnt want to eat it somewhere down the line

take dist cap off yet? make sure its not full of 4yrs worth of oil

The cold start injector will only inject fuel if the coolant temperature is at or below 40deg

I understand that you can hear the fuel pump but is it putting out pressure? If you manually move the airflow meter, connected and ing switch on, can you hear the fuel pump running? Also keep in mind that the ECU needs to see engine RPM before it will trigger the injectors. Engine rpm is sensed from the ignitor, the ignitor sits on top of the coil on the drivers side fender well.
