Hi everyone, I'd like to ask those who have tested these two tire sizes on naturally aspirated engines if they noticed any improvement in fuel consumption and speed when using the 225/95 R16 size? I have a BJ45 with 235/85 R16 BF Goodrich MT and I was thinking about getting a more all-terrain setup and trying the 7.50 R16 size, or, if they roll better, the 225/95 R16 size.

Does the place you are buying the tires from give you any data on the effective circumference/radius? What your are looking IMHO is rubber over drive so to speak, and then there is the rubber compound itself. Compare the mileage rating, shorter mileage softer the rubber but then there is tread depth to factor in also.

What is a 7.50-16 tire equivalent?

What tire size is equivalent to a 7.50 16? The size ST235/85-16 is 9.37 inches wide and 31.67 inches tall whereas the 7.50-16 is 31.8 inches in diameter and is 8.4 inches wide. Both tire sizes will fit a 16 inch wheel that is 6 inches in width.Feb 5, 2022

No never tested any of them. I had never seen the 7.50/R16 tire designation before. I run LT235/75R15 on my 72 and my F150.
Say 4cm taller. C= 2(pi)r and r is 1/2 d If you consider the circumference of a 31" tire and a 32" 97.34 vs 100.48 your road speed at any given rpm is like 3% faster. Normal like overdrive is 30% faster.
I'm sure a bigger tire helps on the freeway but a short wheel base rig doesn't belong on the freeway anyway.
